Pool opening cost calculator
Work out what opening your pool this season will really cost by pricing each part separately: the opening service visit, the start-up chemicals, topping the water back up, cleaning and storing the winter cover, anything the filter needs, and repairs the technician finds once the equipment is running. See the total, a realistic range, and what each part adds.

$350 to $900 is the usual path: the visit plus a real chemical run, a top-off and something the filter needed. Get the chemicals itemised separately from the labour so you can see which half moved.
What this assumes, and where it could be wrong
Every one of these is a place the number could be off. They are here because you should be able to check our working, not because we are hedging.
EVERY PRICE ON THIS PAGE IS YOURS, BECAUSE AN OPENING IS QUOTED POOL BY POOL.
Water condition changes the bill more than pool size does. A pool closed clean and kept covered opens close to balanced and wants a shock and an adjustment. A pool that opens green is repeated shocking over several days plus algaecide and clarifier, and that chemical run can come to more than the visit that uncovered it.
What counts as a standard opening varies by company, and it is the first thing to pin down. Cover cleaning, the first chemical dose, vacuuming the floor and a water test are inside some quotes and extra in others, so two headline prices are not comparable until you have both lists.
Repairs are found at opening rather than budgeted for it. A freeze-cracked pump, a perished seal, a heater that will not light or a flooded light only announce themselves when the system runs, which is why the range on this page is wider above the total than below it.
This is the opening alone. Running the pool through the season, the electricity to keep the pump turning, weekly chemicals, and closing it again in autumn are their own costs and are outside this total.
